Urban pollution

The European Union raises the limit of emissions for cars

 

We all know that our medium and large cities are increasingly polluted and that the level of particulate matter in the air is alarming and very dangerous  to human health.

The European Union, despite all the fine words, promises and commitments made solemnly to the recent COP 21 in Paris, decided to raise the emission limits for cars, not paying the slightest attention to the protests of environmentalists.

We can tell that the Community authorities have not learned anything from the Volkswagen scandal, but rather that they decided to do a big gift to the lobby of the European automotive industry. Raising the allowable emission limit is a great gift to all automotive industries and especially to Angela Merkel, because the scandal of the diesel engine rigged started from Germany. 

Environmentalists have fought to the last to block this new Community legislation, but unfortunately they failed and this shows that the Brussels institutions once again bowed to the lobby, although this will mean a deterioration of air quality in cities and increased risks to human health.

It is said that "Business is business" and never as in this case the sentence is true because the gains of the industries have prevaricated the fundamental right of everyone to a healthy life as much as possible; even the alarming increase in cases of premature death due to the adverse effects of pollution it stirred the consciences of bureaucrats in Brussels.

 

 

All the statistics show that transport is the sector which makes more urban pollution, but instead of introducing strict regulations for cars, is expected to turn down the heating in apartment blocks and prohibits even bake the pizzas with a wood-burning oven and turning on the fireplaces.

Maybe the Community institutions have escaped the small detail that in a large metropolis pizzerias with wood oven and fireplaces are very few and that in any case the wood pollutes much less than the natural gas normally used for heating...

 

 

 

 

 

Inquinamento urbano

Le città sono sempre più inquinate? L'Unione Europea alza il limite di emissioni per le auto

 

Tutti sappiamo che le nostre medie e grandi città sono sempre più inquinate e che il livello di polveri sottili nell'aria è allarmante e molto pericoloso per la salute umana.

L'Unione Europea, nonostante tutte le belle parole, le promesse e gli impegni presi solennemente alla recente COP 21 a Parigi, ha deciso di innalzare il limite di emissione per le automobili, non prestando minimamente attenzione alle proteste degli ambientalisti.

Si può dire che le autorità comunitarie non hanno imparato niente dallo scandalo Volkswagen, ma anzi che hanno deciso di fare un grosso regalo alla lobby del settore automotive europeo. L'innalzamento del limite di emissioni consentito è un grande regalo a tutte le industrie del settore automobilistico e soprattutto ad Angela Merkel, visto che lo scandalo del motore diesel truccato è partito dalla Germania.

Gli ambientalisti hanno lottato fino all'ultimo per bloccare questa nuova normativa comunitaria, ma purtroppo non ci sono riusciti e questo dimostra che le istituzioni di Bruxelles ancora una volta si sono inchinate alle lobby, anche se questo significherà un peggioramento della qualità dell'aria nelle città e maggiori rischi per la salute umana.

Si dice che "Gli affari sono affari" e mai come in questo caso la frase è vera perché i guadagni delle industrie hanno prevaricato il fondamentale diritto di tutti ad una vita quanto più possibile sana; neanche l'allarmante aumento dei casi di morte prematura dovuti agli effetti negativi dell'inquinamento ha smosso le coscienze dei burocrati di Bruxelles.

 

Tutte le statistiche dimostrano che è il settore dei trasporti quello che contribuisce in maniera maggiore all'inquinamento urbano, ma invece di introdurre regole severe per le automobili si pensa ad abbassare il riscaldamento nei condomini e si proibisce addirittura di cuocere le pizze con il forno a legna e di accendere i caminetti.

Forse alle istituzioni comunitarie è sfuggito il piccolo particolare che in una grande metropoli le pizzerie con forno a legna e i caminetti sono davvero pochi e che in ogni caso il legno inquina molto meno del gas metano normalmente usato per il riscaldamento...

All the truth about Zika

 

In this last period we are all talking a lot about the Zika virus which is transmitted by mosquitos and it is prevalent throughout South America, especially in Brazil and Colombia.

Talking about virus Zika and its hazards for the health is very important, but we must not forget that there are many other viruses, even more dangerous, they are forgotten by the media. There are also many cases of leishmania and filariasis that, even though they are not viruses,  they are carried by mosquitoes and that at the beginning  they mainly affected animals, but today  they are infecting many humans too, and they can have even lethal consequences.

The virus Zika is presented by the media as the only one that can cause serious problems to the fetus in pregnant women, but unfortunately what the newspapers and tv news fail to say is that all viruses, even trivial as a simple flu, can be very dangerous for pregnant women, in fact in medical jargon is said to have teratogenic effects and that can cause miscarriage.

Mosquitoes do not carry only the Zika virus, but also many other diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, dengue, Rift Valley fever and Chikungunya; throughout Italy, as I mentioned, are increasing also the cases of leishmaniasis and filariasis that can be lethal for animals and for humans but the media aren't talking about it.

In Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta there are many cases of leishmaniasis among humans, but nobody talks about it, maybe for not scaremongering. 

The questions to ask are: "Why we are talking only about the Zika virus and not about all other diseases?" and "Why just the virus Zika is considered as a breaking news?"

Tutta la verità sul virus Zika

 

In questo ultimo periodo si sta parlando tantissimo del virus Zika che viene trasmesso dalle zanzare ed è molto diffuso in tutto il Sud America, specialmente in Brasile e Colombia.

Parlare del virus Zika e dei pericoli per la salute è molto importante, ma non bisogna dimenticare che ci sono tanti altri virus, anche molto più pericolosi, che vengono dimenticati dai media. Ci sono anche tanti casi di filariosi e di leishmania che, anche se non sono virus, vengono anch'essi portati dalle zanzare e che, se all'inizio colpivano prevalentemente gli animali, oggi stanno infettando anche molti esseri umani e possono avere conseguenze anche letali.

Il virus Zika viene presentato dai media come l'unico che può provocare gravi problemi al feto nelle donne in gravidanza, ma purtroppo quello che i giornali e i telegiornali dimenticano di dire è che tutti i virus, anche banali come una semplice influenza, possono essere molto pericolosi per le donne in gravidanza, infatti in gergo medico si dice che sono teratogeni e che possono provocare aborto.

Le zanzare non portano solamente il virus Zika, ma anche tante altre malattie come ad esempio la malaria, la febbre gialla, la dengue, la febbre della Valle del Rift e la Chikungunya; in tutta Italia, come ho già detto, stanno aumentando anche i casi di leishmaniosi e di filaria che possono essere letali per gli animali e per gli esseri umani ma i media non ne parlano.

In Piemonte e Valle d'Aosta i casi di leishmaniosi tra gli esseri umani sono tanti, ma nessuno ne parla, forse per non creare allarmismo.  

Le domande da porsi sono: "Perché si parla solamente del virus Zika e non anche di tutte le altre malattie?" e "Perché solo il virus Zika fa notizia?"

The self- defence business

 

 

After that has happened in the New Year's Eve in Cologne, in Germany and in Europe the sales of tasers, pepper fogs and all the means who help the self- defence increased; many specialized shops  had to increase their orders.

The fear of the aggressions carried many women to buy self- defence devices and to to frequent self- defence courses organized by gyms; the registrations at these courses have  enormously increased.

In many Europeans countries the sale of these devices like tasers is illegal,but the number of governments who decided to make tasers legal in some specialized gun shops is also increasing.

Nowadays you can freely buy tasers in Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and France, but soon you can buy legally these self- defence devices also in Italy.

The wave of immigration badly managed by the institutions of the European Union has resulted in big cities the creation of  ghetto neighborhoods with a cutting crime and where it is very easy for young people to become radicalised  in Islamic religion.

The inability to distinguish between genuine refugees and economic migrants in need has resulted in anger and dissatisfaction both residents and migrants and this created a climate of tension and insecurity: the debate about the limits of self-defense is more open than ever and while many women still feel insecure while walking in cities.
